ASAP 924 Turbo PCH Gets It’s Louvered Hood!

Filed under: General — maverick @ 9:56 pm

After getting back from Palm Springs today. I got a call from one of the most skilled fabricators in the game. “Cool Scott”  is a old school sheet metal massager who has being bending and shaping metal for over 25 years. I asked him to work his magic on a few of the ASAP Porsche models that I have been restoring and customizing and he got excited about some of the projects that I laid on him. The 1st of these is the ASAP 924 Turbo PCH. Named after the famed Pacific Coast Highway. The Little Turbo has a Al Holbert wide body kit on it and is a real goer when the boost comes on.

I took one of the 924 Turbo hoods that I had laying around over to Scott on Thursday and this is what he did to it in just 2 days of fabrication. Amazing! He louvered the hood putting over 200 louvers on it and giving the little 924 Turbo a very retro-rod style instantly!

What a cool welcome home gift from our rod run out to Palm Springs this morning! More to come on the 924 Turbo PCH as we’re set to begin the prep and paint of the car next week.

With Spring fever upon us here in L.A. and top down motoring a part of the culture in So-Cal. We started doing the final prep on the 928 Cabrio TT Vader to get it on deck for a series of late night shake down runs in out in the San Fernando Valley. The final touches are being put on the 5 speed conversion swap and outrageous interior is almost completed.  I think we should be able to take her out around midnight. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Late Night Porsche 944 Turbo Run To Hollywood!

It was clear crisp early spring night here in L.A. so got the 1989 ASAP 944 Turbo Cabrio up on deck for a late night run over to Hollywood.  This 944 is 1 of 1 Turbo Cabs made in 1989 from a group of only 15 made that year from Porsche.  I headed over to World News to pick up some Porsche mags and then the 101 Cafe for a 50/50 and Cat Fish where I ran into another Porsche gear head Joel Dylan. I took the long way back to the base camp and ran out the 101 Hollywood freeway out to the 170 to the Golden State Freeway I-5 to the 118 west(I hit 135 MPH) to the 210 east to the 2 Glendale Freeway south back into the city. Coming down that long grade from the Angeles Crest you could see all the city lights and the downtown skyline  looking crystal clear in the night. No wonder they call this place tinsel town baby!
